Life Update & What’s In My Cart for the Sephora Sale!

Aloha & TGIF! I’ve been sitting here with so many ideas swirling in my head on what to write about. Why overthink it? This is first and foremost a beauty blog so today I want to talk about some of my beauty favorites & what’s in my cart for the Sephora sale that starts TODAY if you’re lucky enough to be VIB Rouge, or Tuesday 4/8 if you’re like me.

But first, a life update

Yesterday I spent hours compiling MONTHS of video footage from all my Hawaii adventures and I’m so excited to finally share them with you. Sometimes I feel like I have so many ideas and things I want to create but never enough time to bring them to fruition in the ways I imagine them. Last week my merch website got a major upgrade to its own freestanding website! Something I’ve been wanting to do since I created it but I finally put my money where my mouth is and I couldn’t be more excited. The West Coast Collective is my second creative venture – I had the idea for it in 2020 at the same time I registered Young Broke & Glamorous. Right now it just houses my podcast merch (which I plan to relaunch as soon as I’m back in California), but I have so many bigger ideas in store for it that I hope to curate in the near future. For now, me, my mom, and my boyfriend will have an upgraded experience purchasing my merch 😂. Hey, all big ideas start somewhere.

I can’t tell you how excited I am for it to be the weekend. My boyfriend and I have created a little Friday ritual we look forward to every week: each Friday after work we order Boston’s pizza and binge watch a new tv show — speaking of, new episodes of Black Mirror April 10!! We can never agree on a pizza so we get half and half different orders. Lately I’ve been OBSESSED with the carbonara specialty pizza they offer. Coming from San Diego, the land of ANY delicious food you can think of, we haven’t found many places in Oahu that quite live up to par but we both agree that this place is one of our favorites. I would say it’s my favorite but my boyfriend considers that blasphemy against Woodstocks.

I’ve felt so lucky to be able to pick up my things and travel on a whim, visit my boyfriend, and spend more quality time with my parents and friends. Five years ago this is exactly where I wanted to be and it’s only going to get better from here! Life isn’t always all sunshine and rainbows but out of all the lives to have I’m happy this one is mine.

Now, let’s talk makeup

I have my online cart pulled up in another window as I write this and I fear things have gotten a little out of hand.

First, let’s talk practical: sunscreen. I’m in the market for a new face sunscreen that is 100% free of white-cast. Recently I tried out a new K Beauty brand that worked well under my makeup but I suspect it might be the culprit of some acne breakouts. I can’t quite pinpoint this product for certain but it has me wanting to go back something tried and true. I’ve used SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen in the past and really loved it but the price point is a little high. Now that it’s on sale I might give it another try – I like how it doubles as a primer and they also recently upped the SPF to 50.

Recently I’ve been loving tinted lip treatments that double as a lipgloss because they aren’t sticky and help hydrate your lips. A win win. I decided that I’m obsessed with Tower 28 Beauty Lipsoftie Hydrating Tinted Lip Treatment Balm. Which color? Yes. My favorites so far are Ube Vanilla, Watermelon Kiwi, and Red Mochi. I’m eyeing Vanilla, Sugar Plum, and Confetti Cake. I regret not getting their holiday set with all the colors to this day. I was initially hesitant on this one and de-influenced myself from purchasing because I read a review saying it had a gritty texture. Completely false. This formula is thick and hydrating, zero percent gritty and zero percent sticky. Overall I’ve loved this brand as a whole, I love their gloss formula (also non sticky) and cream blushes as well. I’ve been meaning to restock their SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray, too 🤔

For Christmas my friend got me a secret Santa present that included a lip kit from Huda Beauty. I had never tried their gloss formula before and they are LUXURIOUS. I’ve been eyeing this limited edition shade UUU baby “electric lilac” shade. It reminds me of Paris Hilton era 2000s pink and I am here for it. Brands have really been hopping onto the Ube theme lately and I’m into it. I can’t say I’ve historically been a gloss girly but the tides are quickly changing!

Last two items in my cart are from Fenty Beauty. Repeat after me: Fenty Beauty can do no wrong. Riri recently dropped the Gloss Bomb Stix formula and it is 10/10. It’s the balm version of her Gloss Bomb lipgloss and it’s the perfect hybrid for anyone who is looking for that shiny lip with a little more color and longevity. Fenty recently launched shimmer shades as well and “C U In Maui” is the coral island vacation shade of my dreams. Because I’ve been loving this formula so much I’ve ventured into trying shades I normally wouldn’t immediately gravitate to and ended up loving. High’Biscuis has been my staple. Lowkey want to finish my collection with Fenty Glow, Sp’Ice Cold, Riri, Sorta $Elfish, and Two’Lip Kiss.

Over the summer Fenty released limited edition lip oils and now they’re relaunching permanently with a larger shade range. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Oil Luminizing Lip Oil ‘N Gloss.I managed to pick up $Uperfine $Suga and Fro$ted Bunz over the summer at the Kailua location before everything sold out and they are the glittery glosses of my dreams! Razzberry Jamz and Miss Jellyfish are in my cart for the sale – you know I can’t resist a glittery lavender!

Amazing how it doesn’t seem like that many items but my cart total says otherwise 😅. What are some of your favs and what’s in your cart for the Sephora sale?
