The funny thing is every time I’ve been faced with a major change in my life, whether it was decided by me or for me, I felt relief. Almost as if I was ready for the next chapter, whatever it was.
It’s a warm Tuesday afternoon and staying true to my word I’m writing you from a park bench in Arizona. It’s become somewhat of a self-care ritual for me to take time from my day, clear my thoughts, and write. I hope the words flow as easily as the last time.
I’ve been taking the time lately to enjoy the little things, things we take for granted during the normal hustle and bustle of life. Things like the warm desert breeze that remind me of the summers back home, enjoying a hot cup of coffee in the morning with someone you love, or even listening to my favorite podcast while I get ready.
A few months back I was talking to my mom about how everything was falling into place for me and how happy I was compared to my life a few years ago. Just a few years ago the world was upside-down for everyone and during the height of the pandemic I decided to abruptly quit my job, end my stagnant relationship, and move. All at once. Go big or go home, right?
Let me start my saying I am not a risk taker. I enjoy consistency. The funny thing is every time I’ve been faced with a major change in my life, whether it was decided by me or for me, I felt relief. Almost as if I was ready for the next chapter, whatever it was.
I told my mom “the other shoe has to drop sooner or later.” The funny thing about life is just when you think you have it all figured out something changes. Fast-forward a few months later, it did. When you take big risks you get big rewards, but sometimes you’re forced to step backwards and regroup.
Sometimes life’s misdirections are a way of telling you to get up and make a change. To be better. To be happier. Good things don’t last forever, but the bad things don’t either.
Things that made me excited this week:
- I’ve been loving podcasts lately! I’ve been listening to them while I get ready in the morning, in the shower, at the gym, you name it. Typically I’m a true-crime fiend but I’ve been loving more of a talk show vibe lately. My new favorites are The Sip! with Ryland Adams and Lizzie Gordon and Girls Next Level with Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt
- Freddie’s frozen custard. Oh my god. I’m craving one as I write this. They have one with banana and Reese’s that has changed my life, so much so that I had to look up the difference between custard and ice cream (custard has egg, in case you were wondering)
